Dahlgren and Volvo win again
Robert Dahlgren has started the Swedish Touring Car Championship in the best possible way – two pole positions and two wins. His second win came today after a hard fight with the West Coast Racing duo Robin Rudholm and Fredrik Ekblom.
– I never thought this with all the penalty weight. The race was great and my mechanics gave me a great car today, said Dahlgren.
But it was not until the last couple of laps that Dahlgren took the lead. Thed Björk held a comfortable lead after the pitstop since Dahlgren was held up by Tobias Tegelby right after his pit stop. Sadly for the privateer driver he was pushed off by Dahlgren since he was slow moving off the racing line.
Thed Björk was also forced to retrewith only 5 laps to go due to a broken differential.
– It’s just sad, we were so quick. I lost drive after a while, it was nothing I could do, said Björk.
The two West Coast Racing-drivers Rudholm and Ekblom was clearly faster than Dahlgren, but were unable to pass.
– Dahlgren made no mistakes and drove very smart. I am pleased with the race today, especially keeping in mind how my car looked after the last race at Sturup, said Rudholm.
Fourth place went to Alexander Storckenfedlt of Volvo with Janne “Flash” Nilsson in fifth.
– My dream scenario this weekend was to make it in to super pole and then finish somewhere in top five because of my penalty weight. We came pretty close, didn’t we, Flash said laughing.
Things were worse for Flash’s team mate Richard Göransson who retired once more. This time it was due to a broken damper.
