Richard Göransson wins at Mantorp

Richard Göransson took his and Flash Engineering’s first victory of the year at Mantorp Park today. Göransson dominated the race after overtaking Frank Stippler for the lead on lap four.
“Excellent! I am very proud of this win, I didn’t make a single mistake and the pitstop went perfect,” a very happy Göransson said.

Second was Fredrik Ekblom of BMW ahead of Thed Björk of Audi in third. The race started in a spectacular way with Tommy Rustad, Joakim Frid and Tobias Johansson colliding in to the first corner. Frid retired on the spot while Rustad retired in the pits and Johansson was able to continue.

While Göransson flew past Stippler, Ekblom got stuck behind him for many laps. When Ekblom finally passed Stippler, the German recieved a drive-through penalty after moving too far to the right at the start.
“I have never ever heard of such a penalty and I am very disapointed,” said Stippler who finished sixth in the end.

While Stippler was disapointed, Ekblom was very happy with second place.
“Stippler drove hard but fair. But when I finally passed him Göransson had too big of a gap. I am pleased with second,” said Ekblom.

Thed Björk started fifth and managed to work his way up to third.
“It feels very nice to be back on the podium again. I was so disapointed when I retired from the lead at Knutstorp. But this podium is another proof that we belong in the top,” Björk said.

Janne “Flash” Nilsson had a though race this weekend. He was taken out on the very last lap by Volvo-driver Alexander Storckenfeldt.
“He just drove straight in to the side of me. Either he took me off on purpose or he just lost his mind. I’m going to forget about this weekend and move on,” said Flash.
