Johansson rebuilding his Mercedes
Tobias Johansson crashed his Mercedes C-Class hard during the qualifying for the Falkenberg race last weekend. The Mercedes-driver collided with Janne “Flash” Nilsson and Johansson is forced to completely replace the back end of the car.
“It was a heavy crash, we have to cut off the back end of the car and rebuild it,” said Johansson.
During the final minutes of the qualifying session before the Super Pole session a number of drivers were driving slowly to keep the tyres warm when Johansson was out on a hot lap, trying to make it to the Super Pole. Due to an engine failiure of Alexander Storckenfeldt’s Volvo S60 there was a lot of oil around the track.
“There was some oil on the track but I pushed as hard as I could. Just in the last corner I tried to pass Nilsson and we collided. It went really fast, I just put my head against the back of the seat and thought that this is going to be hard,” said Johansson.
Janne “Flash” Nilsson suffered only minor damage to the front right suspension and was able to complete the Super Pole.
“There are no hard feelings between us, he came and apologized directly after the crash”, said Johansson.
