Brands race 1: Giovanardi’s wet win

Fabrizio Giovanardi has won the first of today’s three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent.

Vauxhall driver Giovanardi was gifted his seventh win of the season when Colin Turkington, who started from pole position, spun away the lead in his Team RAC BMW on a wet track.

Finishing second and third were SEAT team-mates Jason Plato and Darren Turner.

The result means that Plato leads the championship by ten points from Giovanardi going into this afternoon’s second race of three.
