Brands race 3: Turkington wins
Colin Turkington, driving a Team RAC BMW, has won the third of today’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent.
The Northern Irishman took over in first place when leaders Mike Jordan’s Eurotech Honda Integra and Fabrizio Giovanardi’s Vauxhall Vectra collided and briefly slid off the track.
Finishing second and third were Team Halfords Honda driver Gordon Shedden and Mat Jackson in his Jacksons MSport BMW.
Italian Giovanardi recovered to finish fourth ahead of SEAT’s Jason Plato, the championship leader. As a result, Plato leads Giovanardi by the reduced margin of just four points as the title race heads to Knockhill in Fife for its penultimate three rounds on 2 September.
