New DTM A4 could stop STCC A4

The STCC Audi team Kristoffersson Motorsport wants Audi Sport Germany to build the brand new A4 in S2000 spec’ for them. But according to Audi Motorsport boss Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich they will most likely not have time for this due to the new DTM A4.
“We are sadly probably not able to build cars for STCC, our capacity is not that big. We have to focus on building new DTM-cars first,” said Ulrich to Auto Motor & Sport.

For team manager of KMS, Tommy Kristoffersson, this statement from Audi Germany does not surprise him.
“It is a quite natural statement from Ulrich. Even if he is interested he cannot promise us anything today. It would mean that he had to go past the entire negotiation process,” said Kristoffersson to STCC.se.

“To build a new car for STCC there must be a desire from the Swedish marketing department and a motivation that it could benefit the marketing and sale of the new model, then the desire is evaluated by Audi Sport in Germany. After that they take a decision wether it is doable or not. It takes money and extra personal, it is a big project to build a new car and it cannot only be financed from Sweden.”

Tommy Kristoffersson will travel to Ingolstad next week to discuss the matter with Audi Sport Germany.
“We have raced since 1998 and always had support from Audi. If you look historically it has been a successful relationship, we have won five out of ten seasons. Of course you are worried at this time of year, but you always are at this point and you should be. I hope for and believe that we continue the relationship and that we can step it up so that we can take our sixth title next year,” said Kristoffersson.
