Audi expected to pull out of STCC
The Audi team in the Swedish Touring Car Championship are expected to announce their withdrawal from the series within a short period of time. As we have reported about earlier Audi Sport Germany boss Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich announced that they would not have the time or capacity to build new the new Audi A4 for both DTM and STCC.
This is what, according to our information, has made Kristoffersson Motorsport and Audi Sweden with no other option other than to pull out from the STCC. But the withdrawal is not expected to be permanent. A return to STCC in 2009 is reported to be on the schedule with the new A4.
What Kristoffersson Motorsport will do instead next year is so far unknown. But reportedly they will compete in some form of racing in Sweden. The drivers from this year, Thed Björk, Frank Stippler and Tommy Kristoffersson are all reported to be on their seperate ways.
Björk is likely to join Polestar/Volvo, Stippler will most likely leave the Swedish racing scene while team boss and driver Tommy Kristoffersson will drive what ever the team decides to do in 2008.
Stay tuned for more information!
