WSR could go BTCC and WTCC in 2008
The British team WSR is planning to run an assault next season at both the British Touring Car Championship and the World Touring Car Championship. This year the team ran two BMW 320si in the BTCC and also attended two rounds of the WTCC with the sponsor Aviva. A decision for 2008 is not far away.
“We need to wait until the annual rules meeting between the BTCC bosses and the teams, which is at the end of November. We still have some issues about the high base weight on our car. Once we know which direction the BTCC will go in 2008, we can make a decision,” said team boss Dick Bennetts to Motorsport News.
The plans still are unfinished, but it could turn out to be only WTCC and no involvement in the BTCC.
“If the WTCC is the direction, we would have to invest a lot to run a BTCC team as well because there are five date clashes during the course of the season. We hope to have a clear direction by the end of the month,” added Bennetts.
