Tommy Rustad negotiating with Volvo
According to the official Swedish Touring Car Championship website previous champion and Norwegian Tommy Rustad is negotiating with Volvo. Rustad drove for Opel in STCC last year but has indicated that he could leave the championship and go back to rallycross.
“I have not yet decided what to do. I am looking at a program for the European Rallycross championship, but nothing is finished yet. Also I am discussing things with Anders Warnestad and the Opel-team”, said Rustad.
The Volvo-team recently announced that they are going to finish their driver selection within this month. Drivers Jens Edman and Daniel Haglöf have been mentioned and is now joined by Rustad.
“We have spoken quite recently. But I got the feeling that they have already decided what driver they are going to sign,” said Rustad.
According to our information Volvo Polestar Racing are once again going to select a pay-driver for their second seat. This seem to open the doors once again for Alexander Stockenfeldt who has payed to drive during his last seasons with Volvo.
Tommy Rustad on the other hand is expecting to finalize his plans before February.
