Björk happy with Honda-test in Spain
Thed Björk was present during the first test for N-Technology with the Honda Accord. Previous STCC-champion Björk will in the Swedish Touring Car Championship drive for Honda with team mate Tomas Engström. The Swede was enthusiastic after the test.
“It is an Italian culture, I have never experienced hearts beating so hard for racing as it does here,” said Björk.
The Swedish Honda-drivers did not actually drive the Accord but was present to gain experience and data for their coming test premiere. James Thompson was behind the wheel of the new Accord all day.
“It is full speed here. They have already made progress, taken decision on which type of brakes are going to be used and how the dampers are going to be developed,” said Björk.
The Swedish Honda-team and the previous WTCC-Honda runner JAS Motorsport are also co-operating. This is an important feature in the development race between the different manufactures according to Björk.
“It is a extreme race of development against for example BMW. It is not easy to keep up with them. They have six cars running at Valencia, we had just one. All development that BMW Motorsport does comes to WestCoast Racing and Flash Engineering. We have no such privileges,” said Björk.
The first test for the Swedish Honda team will take place on March 20th. JAS Motorsport will also be present then and Björk is looking forward to familiarise him self with the Honda.
“I hope that it will progress nicely and that I will get in to the driving quickly. Of course it feels a bit insecure before you have got used to it, but I am not worried. The entire backing for our program feels genuine and nice,” said Björk.
