New Peugeot 308 being assembled

The Swedish Touring Car Championship Puegeot-team IPS Motorsport are currently in a hard schedule to complete the new Peugeot 308 in time for the 2008 season.
“Right now the roll bar is being welded in to the car. After that the car will be transported to Sweden,” said Peugeot mechanic Per Boström to STCC.se.

The roll bar preparation is being made in Belgium. Boström who is chief mechanic for IPS Motorsport is looking over the process on site.

“It is almost 40 meters of tubing that is going in to the chassis. The work has progressed nicely so far, but it will be a tight schedule, something we are ready for,” said Boström.

The Danish company Alternative Engineering are preparing the engine and drive train while the chassis preparations will be made back home in Sweden.

“It is an exciting process and many different projects that have to come together in the end. We are working against the clock,” said the impatient driver Johan Stureson.

The engine and drive train are planned to be mounted in the car in the beginning of Mach with the first tests to be completed at the end of march.
