Will Jens Edman sign for Opel?

Opel Team Sweden still have not secured a driver for the 2008-season. Tommy Rustad left the team for Volvo and it seems as if previous Volvo-driver Jens Edman is up for the Opel-seat. But according to recent information the negotiations have reached a halt.
“We have spoken to each other, but it seems as if we are quite far apart from each other as it is now,” said Edman to STCC.se.

Edman last raced in the Danish Touring Car Championship and says he could get a good seat there if the STCC Opel-deal does not go through.

“I can get a good car and drive for a good team in Denmark, so I do not want to sacrifice everything just to drive in Sweden,” said Edman.

The earlier indications that the Opel-team would be off the grid for STCC 2008 seemed to be wrong earlier as we received information that the team was working hard preparing a new chassis. But if the team does not sign Edman, the list of other drivers are quite small.

According to our information the Opel-team are looking for a driver with a good economical situation. But the team has no comments on the current situation.
“There is nothing we can say right now, we are working on a couple of different tracks,” said team manager Anders Warnestad.
