HSV are ready to improve
With the V8 Supercar season now well underway and the second round at Eastern Creek this coming weekend, the HSV Dealer Team are fired up and out to improve on their solid performance at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
Rick Kelly came away from Adelaide sitting third in the V8 Supercar Championship. He is now looking forward to getting back out on the track at Eastern Creek this weekend which, last year, provided a good result for the team.
Kelly was positive about his Adelaide result and the upcoming round; ”We were quite lucky to get away from Adelaide third in the points.”
“Eastern Creek for us last year was quite good, we finished third in the points and built towards a solid start to the year in 2007, so we are hoping to do that again this year.”
Eastern Creek has in the past provided Rick Kelly with sound results including a round win in 2004 and a third place (on points) last year, however Kelly goes into Round 2 with existing track knowledge and its effects on the cars.
“Traditionally Eastern Creek is a place that is quite hard on tyres, we are quite keen to get there and use the two practice sessions to minimise the impact on our cars this year.” Kelly said.
After a disappointing start to the season Paul Dumbrell is also looking forward to getting back out on the track and banking some Championship points.
“We are taking some positives out of Round 1 in that we had good speed and we ran near the front for the majority of the weekend, now we just have to make sure we get to the finish line at Eastern Creek.”
The main aim for Paul after Adelaide was to make sure he gets himself back into shape after a turn 8 incident in race 2.
“After Adelaide I had to get the body right, I was a little bit sore after a fairly big impact at turn 8” Dumbrell said.
Now with Round 1 out of the way both the HSV Dealer Team drivers are feeling confident and positive going into Round 2. Dumbrell has fitted into his new environment at the HSV Dealer Team and is working well with the team.
“It is a class outfit and even though we didn’t have the weekend we all desired to have in Adelaide, everyone has their head up high and the boys worked extremely well and it is incredible the amount of work they have done over the past ten days, the car is looking good and I think everyone is pretty confident for Eastern Creek.”
Kelly was also positive about this weekend “It has always been a track that has given us some sort of result; we just need to turn that into a good one” he said.
