Göransson tops Knutstorp morning test
The first part of the Knutstorp test is completed with Richard Göransson fastest. The BMW-man lapped the circuit in 1:00.429 which was a tenth faster than his rival and last years champion, Fredrik Ekblom.
“It is very cold but we have had a good run so far today. The day will continue with the usual work with the setup”, said Göransson.
The track was dry but covered in fog and temperatures around eight degrees. For the second and final session of the day it looks like it will be sunny conditions.
Third fastest was Robin Rudholm with Tommy Kristoffersson showing good form in his now privately entered Audi A4 fourth.
Fifth was double STCC-champion Jan Nilsson who was two tenths faster than the fastest man of Sturup yesterday – Thed Björk.
Thomas Schie in the Chevrolet Lacetti only managed to do 16 laps before his run ended in the tyre wall. The crash was caused by the left front wheel coming off. Fortunately there were only minor damage to the car and the team is running again in the afternoon session.
New for the test today are the BMW-privateers Dick Sahlen and Joakim Ahlberg. They both made their first laps ever in the STCC, setting times that put them 12th and 13th respectively.
Update
During the session Thed Björk’s transponder was broken and after taking times from the data logging system of the car his best time was actually the fastest one of the day.
