Göransson dominates Mantorp test
Three BMW’s took the top three places at the Mantorp Park test today. Richard Göransson was fastest of the three with a time of 1:20.119.
“Hard work pays off! My engineer Toby Philips has done a great job today and it feels great to be fastest,” said Göransson.
The WestCoast Racing-drivers Fredrik Ekblom and Robin Rudholm trailed Göransson in second and third place respectively.
“I am very pleased with the setup of my car. The day has gone according to plan,” said Ekblom.
Fourth was Chevrolet-man Thomas Schie. His best time with the Chevrolet Lacetti was only 0.4 seconds slower than Göransson.
“We have done quite many laps and it feels better and better. We are trying out new differentials and it feels like we have found the right thing,” said Schie.
Honda-duo Tomas Engström and Thed Björk were really fast at the two first tests of Knutstorp and Sturup. But today Björk “only” managed sixth and Engström seventh.
“We have a lot of understeer and can’t get it right. One thinks that the Honda should be quick at this track but we are working on it,” said Engström.
Next STCC-test takes place at Gelleråsen tomorrow.
