Drivers’ comments after the Knutstorp race

The 2008 Swedish Touring Car Championship has started and has kicked off with a win for Richard Göransson at Knutstorp. Last years champion Fredrik Ekblom, who stayed with WestCoast Racing over the winter, finished in second place, just ahead of team mate Robin Rudholm. Here is what the key players of today said after the race.

Richard Göransson – Flash Engineering (1st place):
“Wonderful! I had the race under control and you can’t get a better start than this! This is the first time ever I have won an STCC-premiere and it looks good for the rest of the season.”

Fredrik Ekblom – WestCoast Racing (2nd place):
“Rudholm let me past nicely and I had a slightly quicker car. I was able to get past Björk but at that point Göransson had a big gap and there was not much I could do about it.”

Robin Rudholm – WestCoast Racing (3rd place):
“I got out ahead of Björk after my pitstop but had cold tyres so I had to let him past. When I caught up with him again and was going to pass him he just shut the door on me.”

Thed Björk – Honda Racing (10th place):
“Robin was faster and my tires were worn out. But honestly I didn’t think he was close enough to try and overtake. He was a bit too eager in my opinion.”
