“Finally a pole position! It feels great, I never was on pole last year and it feels great to start this season with one,” said a very happy Göransson.
“I sat in my car and had radio contact with my engineer. I was a bit worried that Björk would take me at the end, I made a mistake in the final corner but it was enough anyway,” said Göransson.
Björk made a strong first qualifying for Honda and was happy to start second.
“Of course I would have wanted pole, but this is a strong starting position and I am looking forward to the race,” said Björk.
Third position went to WestCoast Racing-driver Robin Rudholm who felt that his car was better now compared to the morning test.
“I am fairly happy and the car is better now compared to earlier today,” said Rudholm.
Reigning champion Fredrik Ekblom took fourth position.
“It’s ok, I don’t think we got the speed out of the car that we had earlier today,” said Ekblom.
Chevrolet-new boy Thomas Schie made a strong first ever super pole in the Chevrolet Lacetti and finished fifth. Behind him Roger Eriksson proved that he is able to switch from rear-wheel-drive to front-wheel-drive. Eriksson drove a BMW 320i last year and is driving a brand new SEAT Léon this year.
“Excellent! This almost feels like half a victory. We have worked very hard and we have had some problems on the way, so this feels great,” said Eriksson.
The Volvo-team had trouble with the new C30. Dahlgren was unable to take part in the qualifying due to technical problems. Team mate Tommy Rustad will start 11th and team manager Christian Dahl explained the situation.
“We had problem with an uniball that we could not repair during the qualifying session on Dahlgren’s car. It feels a bit heavy, but the car should be ready for the race,” said Dahl.
The race starts at 15.00 CET!
