Knutstorp STCC-premere picture special

The BMW’s dominated the Swedish Touring Car Championship premiere. Richard Göransson won the race in the Flash Engineering BMW ahead of the two WestCoast Racing BMW’s of Fredrik Ekblom and Robin Rudholm. Best non-BMW was Tomas Engström in fourth with his Honda Accord.

Engström’s team mate Thed Björk initially was second behind Göransson, but dropped back as his tyres got worn. His race was then destroyed by a late braking manouvre by Robin Rudholm.

The two made heavy contact and Rudholm actually was in the air for a good bit as he climbed on Björk’s rear wheel. Björk had to pit and change a tyre, no penalty was issued as Björk actually apologized to Rudholm for the incident.

Other incidents, however, were penalized with Carl Rosenblad disqualified, Engström, Andersson and Schie moved down five places to the next race.
