Ekblom continues domination with 1st pole

Fredrik Ekblom took his first pole position in the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2008. The BMW-man blitzed the track and was almost three tenths faster than his closest rival – Tommy Rustad.
“My car was almost perfect right from the start this morning. Well, I’m not sure what to say. Things are going really nice,” said Ekblom with a broad smile to STCC.se.

Volvo-man Rustad held the pole for long but lost it when Ekblom put his nearly perfect lap.
“I am really happy with the qualifying. The guys in the team have done a really good job and it’s just to floor it now,” said Rustad.

Tomas Engström made a strong lap in his very fast Honda Accord and claimed third position on the grid, only four thousands of a second behind Rustad, but was still not happy.
“I cannot get the balance in the car that I want, but lets wait for the race,” said Engström.

Flash Engineering and BMW-man Richard Göransson claimed fourth position on the grid ahead of Robin Rudholm, Mattias Andersson and Janne “Flash” Nilsson.
“I was a bit too careful, I had more grip in the car. But we have a 40 minute race where anything can happen. But I do not like that I am starting from the outside at fourth place on the grid, it is not optimal on this track,” said Göransson.

The race starts at 15.00 CET, stay tuned!
