Dahlgren tops and crashes first Gothenburg test
Robert Dahlgren managed to both top and crash the first test session of the first ever street race of the Swedish Touring Car Championship. The race is held in Gothenburg and Dahlgren’s best time was 47.877 and he was the only driver who managed to get under 48 seconds. And it was Volvo 1-2 with Tommy Rustad in second while Fredrik Ekblom defended the BMW-colors in third.
Thomas Schie was fourth fastest in his Chevrolet Lacetti, only 0.2 seconds behind Dahlgren. Robin Rudholm took fifth ahead of championship leader Richard Göransson in sixth.
Tomas Engström was best Honda-driver in seventh ahead of Mattias Andersson in eigth, Roger Eriksson in ninth and Dick Sahlen rounded out top ten with his privately owned BMW 320i.
The incident of Dahlgren happened in the third corner. It appeared that something broke in the suspension of the car and he went in to the barriers with the side first. Medical crew was on the scene directly and Dahlgren seemed ok.
The next test session starts at 17.50.
