Thed Björk fastest at Gothenburg test two
Honda-man Thed Björk topped the second test at Gothenburg City Race. He was 15th in the first session but bounced back and was 0.055 seconds faster than Mattias Andersson in second.
“I want to be king of Gothenburg! It is a really cool track with a good rhythm, fast and technical,” said Björk to STCC.se.
Alfa Romeo-man Andersson was pleased with second best time. His best time was 0.177 seconds behind Björk.
“It worked nicely, we drove on old tyres during the first test and put on new for this one,” said Andersson.
The Norwegian Thomas Schie was third fastest in his Chevrolet, confirming the domination of the front wheel-driven cars.
“The track is fun to drive, but you cannot make any mistakes. If you put a wheel wrong it is all over,” said Schie.
Robin Rudholm held the flag for BMW in fourth place ahead of Tomas Engström, Richard Göransson, Carl Rosenblad and Fredrik Ekblom.
Ekblom had a clash with Volvo-driver Tommy Rustad. The Norwegian missed the reigning champion when he was about to overtake and the two bumped in to each other which resulted in broken front suspensions. Both had to spend the rest of the session in the pits.
The other Volvo-driver, Robert Dahlgren, did not complete a single lap as he crashed his car in the first practice session. The car will be ready for the race tomorrow and Dahlgren was found OK after his visit to the hospital.
