Dahlgren takes third pole of 2008
Robert Dahlgren claimed his third pole position of the year at Sturup Raceway today. The Volvo-man took pole only 0.04 seconds ahead of Richard Göransson.
“It is a very important track to have pole position at! I just hope the race does not end like last time,” said Dahlgren.
Last time at Sturup Dahlgren led the race from pole but was pushed off the track by Thed Björk. And the Honda-man qualified third, only 0.006 seconds behind Göransson!
“I had an OK lap, but I made a big mistake in the final corner. But I am ahead of both Björk and Ekblom which is important for the championship fight,” said Göransson.
Björk was pleased with his lap.
“It looked good, but there is always someone that squeezes past. I will have to take them in the race instead,” said Björk.
Fourth went to Johan Stureson who lives not far from the track and does a lot of testing here between the races with his Peugeot 308. Mattias Andersson was fifth fastest and the Alfa Romeo-man was fastest in the pre-qualifying where no less than six drivers were within one tenth!
“I lost 0.017 second in the first sector and I tried to take it back in the mid-sector. But it was only enough for fifth place, it is very close in the top,” said Andersson.
WestCoast Racing-men Fredrik Ekblom will start sixth and seventh respectively with Volvo-man Tommy Rustad in eight.
The race starts at 15.00 CET.
