Fredrik Ekblom tops Falkenberg-test day
Fredrik Ekblom was the fastest man overall during the Swedish Touring Car Championship test-day at Falkenberg. The WestCoast Racing-driver lapped the track in 44.267 seconds.
“We have shown before that we have a team that can give all when it really matters and this weekend it really matters,” said Ekblom.
Norwegian Tommy Rustad, who topped the first part of the test, was second fastest – only 0.031 seconds behind Ekblom.
“This day has been very important for us. We have tested more today than during the entire pre-season. All laps that we have done have been strong which of course gives a good confidence for sunday,” said Rustad.
His team mate Robert Dahlgren was third fastest, but the Volvo-man has a penalty after his incident with Mattias Andersson at Sturup which means that he will be moved down ten places on the grid for this race.
Andersson’s team has worked flat out since the incident at Sturup with the car in Italy. The team arrived at the Falkenberg-track during the test today and Andersson completed 46 laps in the re-built Alfa Romeo 156. His best time put him eight in the time list.
Chevrolet-man Thomas Schie was fourth fastest ahead of the BMW-mafia consisting of Robin Rudholm, Richard Göransson and Janne “Flash” Nilsson.
Next up for STCC at Falkenberg is another test session on Sunday morning followed by qualifying, super pole and race.
