Two Volvo’s on the front row at Gelleråsen
Robert Dahlgren took his and Volvo’s fourth pole position of the season. And there were many happy faces at Volvo as team mate Tommy Rustad took second place.
“It was not a great lap, but enough. It would be extremely nice if we kept this result over the finish line,” said Dahlgren to STCC.se.
The Norwegian Rustad was very happy with second place on the grid and is hoping for better results in the race than last time here.
“It was the fastest lap I have ever done here at Gelleråsen, so I am pleased. I hope the race lasts longer than last time here when it ended after 300 meters,” said Rustad.
Third was Honda-man Thed Björk who was sixth tenths slower compared to the pole time of Dahlgren.
“I made a small mistake in the first sector, but I am still pleased. The Volvo’s looks strong for the race,” said Björk.
Mattias Andersson made a very strong run in his privately owned Alfa Romeo 156 and took fourth place on the grid ahead of champion Fredrik Ekblom.
“The first half of my lap was really good, but then I was a bit too conservative. But I don’t think it would have mattered as the Volvo’s are looking very strong,” said Ekblom.
Ekblom’s championship rival Richard Göransson will start right behind in sixth place ahead of Johan Stureson and Roger Eriksson.
