Dick Sahlén OK after big shunt
Privateer Dick Sahlén rolled his BMW 320i E46 four times during the Swedish Touring Car Championship at Våler. Yesterday the Swede left the hospital in Elverum, Norway.
“I am sore, but I have not broken anything. It is most likely the muscles that got a hit and perhaps a light concussion,” said Sahlén to STCC.se.
Sahlén had a hard fight with Tobias Johansson for the independents race win and title. As Sahlén made a quick dive in to one of the fastest corners on the track his car caught the curbs and rolled out in to the gravel trap.
“Tobias braked early and I made an attack. I held my hands close to my body and thought that this is going to be expensive. I was a bit chocked and I just threw the door open to get out of the car that was on the side,” said Sahlén.
The team is currently evaluating the possibilities to get the car ready for the final race at Mantorp in two weeks. The rollcage is reported to be okay, but it remains to be seen if the team can repair the body damage in time.
