Fredrik Ekblom takes final pole of 2008
Fredrik Ekblom made the most of his WestCoast Racing-prepared BMW 320si and claimed the final pole position of 2008 at Mantorp Park.
“We managed to get the car just right! But I hope the race features fair and clean racing this time. To start from pole is a good position for the race,” said Ekblom.
Pole-expert Robert Dahlgren qualified second, ahead of his team mate Tommy Rustad, in the Volvo C30.
“Last time I qualified second, I won. I hope that is a good thing. I will follow Ekblom and see where that takes us,” said Dahlgren.
Robin Rudholm qualified fourth ahead of Carl Rosenblad and Johan Stureson. Flash Engineering-drivers Jan “Flash” Nilsson and Richard Göransson qualified last of the drivers in Super Pole today. Newly crowned champion Göransson was happy anyway.
“I made a small mistake on my lap, perhaps it was my golden drivers suit that made me do it. Seriously though, I am confident for the race, I know that we have the speed for the race,” said Göransson.
While Göransson has decided the drivers title, the fight for the team title is still on. WestCoast Racing has taken command with both cars ahead of the two Flash Engineering cars.
Another fight is the one for second place in the drivers championship. Ekblom has a golden chance to keep second with his pole while Rudholm will have a harder job from fourth. Thed Björk was far off the other two and only managed to qualify tenth.
