New car for Tobias Johansson in 2009
TouringCarTimes has received information that Tobias Johansson and the team Brovallen Motorsport will build completely new car for the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2009.
“I cannot confirm anything now, but we are working on building a new car for 2009 and I can tell more about it in two weeks,” said Johansson to TouringCarTimes.com.
The plan for the team, according to our information, is not to run the car on petrol, bio-ethanol or diesel. A large Swedish energy company is reported to have shown interest in the project and wants the car to be run on liquified petroleum gas, LPG.
So far nothing has been written in the engine rules about the usage of LPG for the STCC or S2000. But to get more sponsors and manufacturers interested in the series it is not impossible to see the organisers allowing more types of more environmentally friendly types of fuel.
This is not the first time Johansson and the team Brovallen Motorsport constructs a new car on their own. The Mercedes C200 S2000 Johansson ran in STCC this year was constructed by Brovallen Motorsport. The team was looking for official support from Mercedes, but a deal was never made.
Stay tuned for more information about the project!
