Gothenburg street race set for June 2009

The Swedish Touring Car Championship will return to the Gothenburg City Race track in 2009. The date has been set and it will be on the national day of Sweden – 5/6th of June.
“The Gothenburg City Race is an important race for us and we have some good stuff coming for 2009,” said Bob Huzell, MD of STCC AB.

The STCC race at Gothenburg this year was the first race ever there and it was an immediate success. A total of 38 000 persons visited the event during the race weekend.

“We are more than pleased. 10 000 persons visited the track on friday and 28 000 on saturday. The drivers liked the track and the racing was great. But we have some areas that we are going to improve until 2009,” said Tomas Lindskog, MD of City Race Arena AB.

The STCC race will be held on the 6th of June next year which is a saturday. And it seems more and more certain that all STCC-races next year will be held on saturdays.
