2009-calendar finally revealed

The preliminary dates for the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2009 has finally been released. The calendar features nine races, compared to the eleven races of 2008.
“We are convinced that we have found a good setup for the calendar. We have some ongoing negotiations, but our ambition is to present a calendar with all tracks revealed shortly,” said Bob Huzell, STCC AB MD.

The season starts on the first weekend in May and ends, traditionally, in the final weekend of September.

As previously hinted the races are planned to be held on saturdays, instead of the traditional sunday races. Two races will be held on the saturday, instead of the previous format of one long race with a pitstop.

The final details of race length and qualifying has not been revealed, but according to our sources, it will not be far from the current WTCC-format.
