Results of the TcT STCC-awards

In the first rounds of the TouringCarTimes Awards 2008, the readers of our website could vote for the best driver, best rookie, best privateer, best team and best manufacturer in the British and Swedish Touring Car Championship. The results of the BTCC have been released earlier. Now all the votes for the STCC have been counted. See here who has won the STCC Awards.

Best driver 2008 – STCC
With a big margin, Richard Göransson has been elected the best STCC driver of the year. A well deserved win, after the Swede has won the title in this year’s championship.

The battle for second place was just won by Robert Dahlgren, who only just received more votes than last year’s champion Fredrik Ekblom.

2 – Robert Dahlgren – 15,8%
3 – Fredrik Ekblom – 15,1%
4 – Thed Björk – 6,6%
5 – Mattias Andersson – 6,2%

Best rookie 2008 – STCC
With just two rookies in this year’s championship, the battle for the title of best rookie of 2008 in the STCC went between Joakim Ahlberg and Dick Sahlén. The latter won the election by a comfortable margin.

1 – Dick Sahlén – 66,9%
2 – Joakim Ahlberg – 33,1%

Best privateer 2008 – STCC
After winning the Caran Cup for privateers, Tobias Johanson has convincingly won the election for best privateer 2008 STCC as well. Dick Sahlén, runner up in the Caran Cup, took second place in this election as well, albeit with a bigger margin than in the privateers championship.

1 – Tobias Johanson – 56,8%
2 – Dick Sahlén – 12,0%
3 – Viktor Huggare – 8,8%
4 – Ronnie Brandt – 8,0%
5 – Joakim Ahlberg – 6,4 %

Best team 2008 – STCC
As tight as the battle was in the teams championship, the fight in the election for the best team 2008 was just as close. With just a small margin, West Coast Racing was elected as the number one.

1 – West Coast Racing – 28,9%
2 – Flash Engineering – 26,9%
3 – Volvo Olsbergs Green Racing – 22,5%
4 – Honda Racing – 7,2%
5 – MA:GP/Alfa Romeo – 6,8%

Best manufacturer 2008 – STCC
With the top two drivers and teams driving a BMW, it’s hardly a surprise that the German make wins the election for best manufacturer 2008. Volvo takes a strong second ahead of Honda.

1 – BMW – 48,6%
2 – Volvo – 28,1%
3 – Honda – 7,6%
4 – Alfa Romeo – 7,2%
5 – Chevrolet – 4,8%
