Honda confirms two cars for 2009

The Swedish Touring Car Championship Honda-team has confirmed two cars for 2009 after speculations on the team returning to just one car.
“It will be two cars and we have a number of options when it comes to the new driver,” said team boss Tomas Engström.

Strong rumors have indicated that previous double STCC-champion Roberto Colciago would take the seat at Honda. But the team does not name their new driver just yet.

“We have six names on the list of which three are from Sweden. We have come a bit further with one of the drivers, the only thing missing is a signature on the contract. If the deal goes through we will have a driver that holds high international standard,” said Engström.

The Honda-team changed to two drivers for the 2008-season, something that will continue for at least two years.

“We will run two cars and we are following the plan that we set up ahead of 2008. The plan spans over three years and includes winning the STCC within these three years,” said Engström.

The identity of the new driver will be revealed within the next couple of weeks, stay tuned!
