Court seeks drive via new sponsorship idea

Ian Court is looking for a drive in the British Touring Car Championship. As for many drivers, the required budget is hard to get. To overcome these problems, the driver from Chorley has created an interesting way to raise sponsorship money: it is possible to support his career by sending a text message to a phone number.
“I have had the idea of using reverse billing text messaging for sponsorship for a while now but I only really looked in to it properly just before Christmas when one of my sponsorship deals fell through and left me quite a bit short of the budget that I needed,” said Court.

The sent text will be featured on his car and the text message service will help the driver to gather the budget together to race in the top British series in an Alfa Romeo 156.

Court hopes that this will help him overcome the sponsorship issues determined by the credit crunch, which has strongly restricted the sponsorship possibilities.

“With the current state of the economy, searching for full levels of sponsorship became more and more of an unrealistic dream as I have already had a couple of seasons away from racing due to a lack of budget as it is,” said Court.

Ian Court has raced in many different series, such as Formula Fords, Zip Formula, Ford Focus Cup, Renault Clio Cup, Rover GTI, Ford Fiestas, Porsches and Legends Car Championship.
