First pics of the new Arena Ford Focus
Tom Chilton completed the first test with the new S2000 Ford Focus of Arena Motorsport at Snetterton. The 23 year old Brit was pleased with the first impressions of the car.
“Of course I’m very excited to be involved with this, but my first impressions exceeded what I had hoped for,” said Chilton to BTCC.net.
The team completed a short shakedown at Silverstone before heading to Snetterton for a complete day of testing.
“It was only the first day’s running, but I can tell it’s going to be a very special car. The feeling I got for certain aspects were really impressive.”
The car has been build completely by Arena Motorsport during the last couple of months. Team boss Mike Earle was more than pleased with the first outing of the car.
“We were in the fortunate position of being able to evaluate and choose from any make and model of car that fell within the current Super 2000 technical regulations and it was an easy decision to opt for the Ford Focus,” said Earle.
A hard test programme lies ahead of the team and with the BTCC premiere only about six weeks from today, the schedule will be intense. The team has planned 14 more test days.
“It is dynamically the best donor vehicle to start with and our faith in its potential is already starting to be confirmed. Obviously it is early days in the development programme, but the feeling we’ve got from running today is extremely positive.”
