Tiainen confirms Semcon Cup entry
Mikko Tiainen has confirmed his entry in the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2009 for the privateers Semcon Cup. The Finn will drive a 2006 specification BMW 320si E90, driven in the Finnish championship last year by Mikko Eskileinen.
“Im really satisfied in the contract. The BMW is very fast, proven by Eskeleinen’s speed last year, so I will not be hindered by the material,” said Tiainen.
Tiainen ran a couple of races in the Finnish Touring Car Championship last year. He drove a BMW 320i E46 and his best finish was fourth.
The car will be run by team MJT Racing, headed by Mika Rönnberg and Martti Monto. Rönnberg has a lot of previous experience with BMW, having both run and build E90, E46 and E36-models for S2000, endurance racing and track days.
The so far confirmed opposition for Tiainen in the Semcon Cup is Viktor Huggare in a 2007 specification Opel Astra. A number of more entries are expected before the season start.
