Official entry list released featuring 24 cars
The official entry list for the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2009 has been released. The list features 24 cars and drivers in ten different car makes.
“Nine race weekends and 18 races with this entry list, I am more than longing for the premiere at Mantorp Park,” said STCC MD Bob Huzell.
The list for the works entries features no surprises with thirteen cars and drivers.
The previously unconfirmed entries of Roger Eriksson, SEAT Léon, Mattias Andersson, Alfa Romeo 156, Johan Stureson, Peugeot 308, and Tomas Engström, Honda Accord, are on the list.
“We have a dream season ahead of us! We have the largest number of different car makes of all S2000 championships in the world, a city race in Gothenburg, bio gas powered cars and much more. This season is something no one can miss,” said Huzell.
The entry list for the privateers championship, Semcon Cup, features some new names. The cup has grown strong for this year, much thanks to the prize money, free tyres and fuel.
A total of eleven drivers are entered so far and we have some new names. Norwegian Petter Granlund is going to take part in the cup with a so far unannounced car. Rumors have it that he is going to drive a BMW 320i E46. Granlund drove a Peugeot 407 in the Danish Touring Car Championship last year and has driven one make series in the past like Volvo S60, Peugeot 206 and Renault Clio.
Mikael Ohlsson takes the step from Carrera Cup Scandinavia this year. He is going to drive the ex Johan Stureson Peugeot 407 in the Semcon Cup.
Viktor Hallrup is an interesting name for the Cup this year. The young Swede previously had announced that he was going to drive Formula Renault. But Hallrup has acquired one of WestCoast Racing’s previous BMW 320i E46 for Semcon Cup.
Tony Johansson is going to drive a Mercedes C-Class in Semcon Cup with team G-Rex Sweden. The Mercedes is the very one Tobias Johansson drove to take the Semcon Cup-title last year.
Johan Kristoffersson, as announced yesterday, is going to be a strong title contender for Semcon Cup in the fast Audi A4 that his father drove in STCC last year.
The other entries in Semcon Cup, Viktor Huggare, Joakim Ahlberg, Dick Sahlén, Tobias Tegelby and Ronnie Brandt, took part in the series last year.
