Leason back with the diesel BMW

The diesel BMW 1-series is going to be back in the British Touring Car Championship for the season premiere at Brands Hatch this weekend. Nick Leason is going to drive the car.
“The whole team are just so happy to be out there this weekend and being part of the BTCC series,” said Leason.

“We just hope we get our bit of luck, achieving some positive results to make the weekend worth while for the fans and everyone that has supported us so far,” said Leason.

Team AFM and Rick Kerry are behind the running of the car again and the work for this season has been an emotional roller coaster for the team.

The team had contract with a number of different sponsors ahead of the 2009 season but a number of them pulled out just before the start of testing.

“The whole Team was devastated with this news, we just weren’t getting the lucky break needed to allow us to continue. Team AFM had always known it would be a hard mountain to climb, but knew we could make it work,” said Leason.

Fortunately the team managed to secure a sponsor a short time ago which enables the team to run one car.

“Finally there was a welcome break from an old colleague, who was willing to support, enabling our entry into BTCC for the first couple of rounds. It’s a shame we lost our main sponsor, but to be fair it’s happening to a few teams,” said Leason.
