Mattias Andersson presents new design

The privateer team MA:GP has presented a new design for the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2009. Mattias Andersson is going to continue driving the Alfa Romeo 156 he drove to eleventh place in the championship last season. The team performed the first test of the year at Mantorp Park last week which the team reported went successful.

The team is going to join the unofficial STCC test at Mantorp Park tomorrow where a number of other teams are expected such as WestCoast Racing and Flash Engineering.

The Alfa Romeo of Andersson is the one James Thompson drove to third place in the World Touring Car Championship 2007.

Andersson held a good pace last year but suffered from a lot of bad luck and got involved in crashes. His best finish was second in the second race of the year.

For this season Andersson’s team has entered the series with the Peugeot team IPS Motorsport. The reason for this is the new prize money rules for the team championship.

Each team are allowed to have two cars eligible to score prize money that are awarded to the best team of each race. A total of one million Swedish kronor are available during the season in prize money.
