Göransson continues on top at Gelleråsen

Richard Göransson remains on top when the Swedish Touring Car Championship has moved to its second official tests session of the year at Gelleråsen.
“The car is working fine, but I think a lot of guys are sand bagging out there today,” said Göransson to STCC.se.

The field is really close and top three are separated by only seven hundredth of a second. STCC veteran Jan “Flash” Nilsson was second fastest.

“The car is feeling really good! But as previously said, there is a lot of sand bagging going on. Volvo has more to give, I’m sure of that. Those of us who are not trying to be clever are driving flat out and it is looking pretty good,” said “Flash”.

While the Volvo team might be sand bagging, Tommy Rustad was third fastest, only eleven hundredths of a second behind “Flash”.

2006 STCC champion Thed Björk was forth fastest but had to spend half of the morning session in the pits as the teams changed his engine according to the engine service plan.

Göransson’s team mate Robin Rudholm was fifth fastest ahead of SEAT man Roger Eriksson. The blue and white Alfa Romeo 156 of Mattias Andersson was seventh ahead of Chevrolet man Thomas Schie.

Robert Dahlgren, who took pole here last year, in the Volvo C30 was ninth fastest ahead of Thomas Engström who made his first appearance of the year in the Honda Accord.

The bio gas powered Volkswagen Scirocco’s of Fredrik Ekblom and Patrik Olsson was 15th and 17th fastest respectively.

The test continues until 17.00 CET today, stay tuned for more news!
