Robert Dahlgren starts fastest at Knutstorp

Robert Dahlgren put another car than a BMW fastest for the first time this year during the official Swedish Touring Car Championship tests. The Volvo man’s best time was 1:00.454 in the morning session, only 0.084 seconds faster than reigning champion Richard Göransson. The champion’s team mate Robin Rudholm was third fastest, 0.209 seconds behind Dahlgren.

Norwegian Tommy Rustad was fourth fastest in the Volvo C30, seven tenths of a second slower than his team mate Dahlgren.

Flash Engineering driver Thed Björk was fifth fastest ahead of Knutstorp home boy Johan Stureson in the Peugeot 308.

Mattias Andersson put his Alfa Romeo 156 seventh fastest ahead of 1996 and 1997 STCC champion Jan “Flash” Nilsson.

Fredrik Ekblom, in the bio gas powered Volkswagen Scirocco was the first man over one second slower than Dahlgren. His best time was 1.3 seconds slower. Notably both Scirocco’s ran without the diffuser in the first part of the test today.

Roger Eriksson rounded off top ten ahead of the best privateer driver Viktor Hallrup.
