Volvo 1-2 in Mantorp qualifying

Volvo claimed the first two positions in the first Swedish Touring Car Championship qualifying of the year at Mantorp Park.
“Awesome! My tactic is going to be to get a gap early on in the race and try to save the tyres,” said pole man Robert Dahlgren.

Dahlgren’s team mate Tommy Rustad qualified second in the very close second qualifying run, only 0.086 seconds behind.

Thed Björk claimed third position and was best BMW driver. The Flash Engineering man was 0.120 seconds behind the pole time.
“I am pleased! Third position is better than to start second, now I have the inside line for the first corner,” said Björk.

WestCoast Racing drivers Robin Rudholm and Richard Göransson qualified fourth and fifth respectively. Göransson spun in the final minutes of the session and was unable to improve his lap time after that.

Tomas Engström made a strong run in his updated Honda Accord and claimed sixth position ahead of Jan “Flash” Nilsson in seventh.

Roger Eriksson was the final driver to make it in to the final qualifying session and is going to start eight.

Johan Stureson just missed the second qualifying session and is going to start ninth ahead of the very impressive privateer driver Johan Kristoffersson in the Kristoffersson Motorsport prepared Audi A4.
