Robert Dahlgren faces grid penalty

Robert Dahlgren could be moved down ten positions in the qualifying session for the coming Swedish Touring Car Championship race at Gelleråsen. The Volvo man blew his engine in the second race of the premiere race.
“We have not decided yet if we are going to change the engine,” said Polestar Racing team boss Christian Dahl to TouringCarTimes.com.

Only five laps in to the second race of the premiere at Mantorp Park Dahlgren had to retire.

“The oil temperature rose consistently and then I got alarm for the oil pressure. Right after that the engine just stopped,” said Dahlgren on his website.

The engine failure looked serious, but Polestar Racing has not ruled out yet to repair the engine.

“We are of course going to repair the engine as much as possible to avoid the penalty,” said Dahl.

The rules require each engine to be used for two race weekends. The top and sump of all engines are sealed by the STCC organisation which unables the teams to do any major repairs between the races.

Honda driver Tomas Engström blew his engine in the first race of the STCC premiere. But Engström is not going to get a penalty at Gelleråsen.

“Engström got his penalty in the second race at Mantorp and as for Dahlgren, we have not received an application for an engine change from the Volo team,” said Johnny Haraldsson, technical director of STCC AB.
