Driver comments ahead of Gelleråsen
The Swedish Touring Car Championship heads on to Gelleråsen for the third and fourth race of the year. Reigning champion Richard Göransson currently holds the lead ahead of Thed Björk and Tommy Rustad who are joint third. The weather forecast promises unstable weather with rain showers, which should provide for an eventful weekend.
Thed Björk, Flash Engineering
“I feel comfortable at Gelleråsen, I have won many races and done many test laps here. I always aim to be in the top and fight for the win, but it is going to be tough as usual.”
Robin Rudholm, WestCoast Racing
“The conditions are there for us and we have a good idea on how to tackle the weekend. The goal is to have two problem free races, if we get that then we know that we have a good race weekend to summarize.”
Robert Dahlgren, Volvo C30
“I have to take pole position to not destroy my starting position completely for the weekend. Then I am going to start eleventh (due to his penalty) and have 300 meters to gain in 20 minutes to be able to fight for the points. That is going to be extremely important.”
Richard Göransson, WestCoast Racing
“I am prepared that I have to get that little extra out of my self and the car to make this a good weekend.”
Jan Nilsson, Flash Engineering
“We have tested a lot since the last race to learn everything about the new Yokohama tyres. It is difficult to say exactly where we are going to finish, but we have the speed for top five and that’s what you need to win the championship.”
Fredrik Ekblom, Team Biogas.se
“We have done two further test days and we have been able to fine tune wheel angles and damper settings. I feel that we have got good speed in the car and we are aiming to take a good step forward.”
Johan Stureson, IPS Motorsport
“This track suits us better than Mantorp. We have had to cut down on the number of test days this year, but we are going to try and gather some good points this weekend. A top five finish would have been very nice.”
Roger Eriksson, Nordic Fine Art
“The goal is to reach the podium this time. The speed is in the car and the track suits us well. I am still waiting for my first STCC victory and it would be nice to take it here.”
Johan Kristoffersson, KMS
“We have a good car, but the competition is tough. The season started very nice and we are aiming to get two new victories at Gelleråsen. It is not the best of tracks for the car, but if we get it right I think we are going to be up there.”
