Pole, fastest lap and win for Rudholm
Robin Rudholm made the most of his pole position and secured a victory in style, ten full seconds ahead of his closest opponent Tomas Engström.
“Excellent, the weekend has started perfectly so far! I had a calm and controllable race today,” said Rudholm.
But at first it looked dangerous for Rudholm as the start was held when he jumped the lights.
But the second start attempt went better, but not for his team mate Richard Göransson. The reigning champion had gone up to third when he got a drive through penalty for not “performing the start correctly.”
Instead Tomas Engström, Jan “Flash” Nilsson and Thed Björk fought it out for second place. “Flash” made a cracking start and went from eight to third in the start.
He then started to chase Engström and his team mate Björk joined him in the chase after passing Mattias Andersson.
But neither of the Flash Engineering drivers were able to pass Engström who secured second despite loosing his power steering on the last couple of laps.
“I’m just so happy! But I would not have been able to hold it for one more lap,” said Engström.
“Flash” had to settle for third with his team mate Björk crossing the finish line one hundredths of a second behind.
“One more lap and I would have passed him! But I am pleased and the changes we made of the setup made the car much better,” said “Flash”.
Tommy Rustad finished fifth ahead of team mate Robert Dahlgren. Rustad clashed with Andersson when the both fought for fifth, resulting in a broken suspension for Andersson.
Peugeot man Johan Stureson finished seventh ahead of Roger Eriksson who is going to start from pole in the second race.
