Ekblom: “We might as well quit driving”

The 50 kilos of extra weight for the Volkswagen team Biogas.se remained during the race at Gelleråsen. Triple Swedish Touring Car Championship champion Fredrik Ekblom is dejected.
“If we cannot unload the 80 kilos of extra weight, we might as well quit driving,” said Ekblom to Karlskoga-Kuriren.

The extra 50 kilos were given to the team by the STCC organization due to the fact that they have not revealed all details of the car, especially the details around the engine.

Both Volkswagen drivers have failed to score points in the first two race weekends this year.

Ekblom came close in the race at Gelleråsen where he finished ninth, just one place from their first point.

“Without the extra weight, we would have been in the top. It slows us down of course,” said Ekblom.

The team is continuing the dialogue with the STCC organization and is hoping for a solution for the coming race in Gothenburg.

“Hopefully there will be a change ahead of the next race,” said team boss Tobias Johansson.
