Ekström aims to beat the lap record

Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters star Mattias Ekström is going to join the Swedish Touring Car Championship weekend at Gothenburg with his Audi A4. He is not going to take part in the STCC races, but rather going to try and beat the lap record.
“I have never seen the track before, but with the right conditions it is possible to set a really good lap time,” said Ekström.

Ekström is going to put the 460 bhp Audi A4 to the maximum next weekend.

“It is going to be great fun to go to Gothenburg and really put the car to the limit,” said Ekström.

Ekström started his career in the STCC. His first full season was in 1997 in a Volvo 850.

He took his first and only STCC title in 1999, driving an Audi A4, before moving to the DTM in 2001.
