Engström wins race two in Gothenburg
Tomas Engström won the second race at Gothenburg ahead of Johan Stureson and Roger Eriksson.
“It is just unreal to be able to win here! This is thanks to the team and all the support we have got from JAS and Mugen,” said Engström.
There was a furious fight behind the top three. Cars were switching places and crashing all over.
Thed Björk was hit hard from behind at the start. Tommy Rustad and Mattias Andersson fought with Björk for fourth, a fight that Björk came out on top of and was able to close in on Eriksson.
Björk was really close to Eriksson at the end of the race but was not able to get past.
“What a race, there were fight everywhere! But I am so pleased with the weekend and all the points that I collected,” said Björk.
Andersson limped home in fifth with a severely damaged bonnet.
Tommy Rustad secured sixth place after fighting with Jan “Flash” Nilsson. Rustad made a mistake on the penultimate lap which enabled “Flash” to get really close.
But coming out of the very fast penultimate corner of the lap, “Flash” crashed in to the barriers and had to retire with a seriously damaged car.
“I think I broke my chest and neck, but that will heal until the day after tomorrow. Seriously though, I made a mistake and there is no room for that here,” said “Flash”.
Richard Göransson was able to take advantage of this and took seventh position ahead of Robert Dahlgren. Göransson was fighting hard through out the entire race with, among others, his team mate Robin Rudholm.
Another fight Göransson had was with Fredrik Ekblom. The Volkswagen driver started from pole, but was unable to stay in the top.
Ekblom steadily fell through the field and got in to a hard fight with Göransson. The BMW driver tried to pass the Volkswagen driver in the first corner, but Ekblom had none of it which resulted in Göransson spinning off.
Björk keeps the lead in the drivers championship after yet another solid point filled weekend. Rustad is second, six points behind with Stureson as new third placed man.
Next race is at Knutstorp in three weeks.
