First pole for Tommy Rustad

Tommy Rustad secured his first pole position of the year thanks to the penalty of his team mate Robert Dahlgren.
“Great, this is the perfect track to take pole position on! I am looking forward to the race,” said Rustad.

Rustad’s team mate Dahlgren was moved down ten places due to the engine change the team was forced to make after the Gelleråsen race.

Second placed man in the qualifying at Gothenburg today is Mattias Andersson in the Alfa Romeo 156.

Andersson ended the qualifying session with a damaged front after he braked too late and crashed in to the back of Roger Eriksson’s SEAT Léon.

Andersson was able to get back to the pits while Eriksson’s car was stranded out on the track. The team is currently working hard to get the car ready for the race.

There were more cars that suffered from crashes and break downs. Chevrolet man Thomas Schie made it in to the second qualifying session only to loose his wheel on the final lap and went in to the tyre barriers.

Richard Göransson, BMW, and Patrik Olsson, Volkswagen, were two other victims of the barriers of the street track. Göransson clipped the barriers with his rear right end and had to pit for repairs and missed the second qualifying session.

Olsson went in to the wall on the fastest corner on the track which ruined the front left suspension of the car. The team reported that they expect him to be back on the grid for the race.

Thed Björk claimed third position on the grid ahead of Roger Eriksson and Thomas Schie. Johan Sturesson is going to start sixth with Göransson and Jan “Flash” Nilsson behind him.

Tomas Engström originally qualified fourth but was moved down ten places due to a engine change, just as Dahlgren. The first race of the day starts at 13.00 CET.
