Ohlsson switches from Peugeot to BMW
Privateer Swedish Touring Car Championship driver Micke Ohlsson has switched from Peugeot 407 to BMW 320i E46 in the middle of the season.
“The rear wheel drive of the BMW suits me better and we had a lot of problems with the Peugeot,” said Ohlsson.
Ohlsson suffered from a number of engine failures in the first three race weekends.
“We need reliability and the ability to focus the energy on developing the setup of the car instead of mending it after each race,” said Ohlsson.
The BMW Ohlsson has acquired is the one Duncan Huisman drove for WestCoast Racing in the STCC 2006.
“I think this is going to suit me better and it suits me much better,” said Ohlsson.
The majority of Ohlsson’s previous race cars have been rear wheel driven, the Porsche 911 and the Radical for example.
Ohlsson is currently fifth in the privateer’s cup, Semcon Cup, on 13 points. Leading the cup is Viktor Hallrup on 50 points.
