Jan “Flash” Nilsson takes win no. 31

Jan “Flash” Nilsson secured his 31st victory in the Swedish Touring Car Championship today. The Flash Engineering driver took one place in the start and two more a couple of laps later which gave him an untouchable lead.
“This was one of my best victories ever! It was easy today, the car worked perfectly and I was able to do some great overtaking maneuvers as well,” said “Flash”.

“Flash” started fourth and took Tommy Rustad in the start. Mattias Andersson held the lead for the first couple of laps but was unable to fend off “Flash”.

Robin Rudholm was another driver that got past Andersson. The WestCoast Racing driver had a hard fight with Robert Dahlgren but was able to pass him in the closing stages of the race.
“A really good weekend, a great comeback from the weekend in Gothenburg!” said Rudholm.

Previous race winner Dahlgren hanged on to third and was pleased with the weekend.
“This was a really important turn around for us! This was just what we needed to be able to fight for the championship at all,” said Dahlgren.

Andersson finished fourth ahead of Richard Göransson who was involved in a big accident with rival Thed Björk on the opening lap.

The both went side by side in to the fast “Micro-krönet” corner and collided which sent Björk in to the wall and Göransson in to a spin. Göransson was able to fight his way back up to sixth from last.
“Björk just steered in to me and destroyed both of our races. But nine points from this weekend is still good and the championship is more exciting than ever,” said Göransson.

Björk was not able to finish the race but had to retire with extensive damage and was upset.
“It was a hard impact and it was painful. I am going to get back in the next race, I can promise you that,” said Björk.

Rustad finished sixth after contact with Göransson in the first corner. Roger Eriksson took seventh ahead of Patrik Olsson and STCC returnee Pontus Mörth. Fredrik Ekblom rounded off top ten.
