Half time drivers and team statistics
The Swedish Touring Car Championship has reached half point and is currently on summer break. It is time for the half time statistics! While the championship points shows one thing, the statistics shows another. Championship leader Thed Björk has not won a single race, sixth placed Robert Dahlgren has taken all poles but one!
It is not a coincidence that Björk leads the championship. He has been on the podium in half of the races this year, giving an impressive average finish of third.
The man closest to Björk in the championship, Volvo man Tommy Rustad, has won two races compared to Björk’s zero.
An interesting man in the statistics is Robert Dahlgren. The Volvo man has been blisteringly quick at almost all circuits, taking pole positions on all tracks but one, giving an average qualifying position of 1.2.
But a series of blown engines, which has given him grid penalties, has stopped him from materializing the speed in to points. Missing the checked flag four times and having a average finishing position of 7.4 explains that he only is sixth in the championship, 27 points from the lead.
Worth to note though is that WestCoast Racing man Robin Rudholm has got most fastest laps of all drivers so far, compared to his team mate Richard Göransson that has got none.
While the battle of the drivers championship seems to develop in to a four way fight between Thed Björk, Tommy Rustad, Richard Göransson and Robin Rudholm, there are three teams in for the fight in the teams championship.
Flash Engineering is currently heading the table, three points ahead of WestCoast Racing and seven points ahead of Polestar Racing.
The team statistics follows the drivers statistics to some extent: Flash Engineering has the best average points and finishing position and number of podiums.
Polestar Racing has got all pole positions (if we do not include the grid penalties), the most fastest laps and best starting position average. But on the other hand they have the second most retirements and are behind on average points and finishing positions.
